I was going to ask you if you'd used his broadleaf when you posted a link to his site. I got the impression it was unsorted, is this the case?
Yes, you just get a big bag of leaves from him. But so far the've been pretty much all useable, i.e., every leaf has at least a few wrappers' worth of lamina to it. I have to iron down the thicker subveins, but that's true of leafonly's CT broad as well, just the nature of the leaf.

Right no getting around it if you want to use broadleaf. I don't mind though its by far my favorite wrapper. I'll keep him in mind when I come up with a blend using broadleaf in the filler. I have a bunch of the 08 CT broad from leaf only and have gotten some beautiful and very dark wrappers out of it. Most of what I have left is filler grade so I'll be working on the blend soon. I'm thinking something like 2 corojo seco, 1 CT broad, and 1 criollo ligero wrapped in more broadleaf could be a nice combination.

That would be a nice smoke! Piloto Cubano Seco, which I think is Dominican, would also work. You might also try this with a shade wrapper.
Ancient Chinese secret - some of the binder and filler leaves have enough unblemished lamina to use for wrappers for the smaller robustos. I don't normally do this though, as Larry's CT broad is so cheap, something like $12 or $14 a pound.

I love piloto! It pairs really well with brazilian mata fina. The mata fina has that bitterness to it and the piloto turns it right into cream. It royally sucks they won't be carrying it anymore.
I get pretty creative in finding a decent bit of wrapper in a leaf. I roll a lot of PCs and coronas which also helps a lot. It also makes the leaf go a bit further since I can get 4-6 sticks out of one full wrapper leaf compared to 2 rollin bigger vitolas.

I can usually get 4 wrappers out of a good-sized leaf. I do a mix of robustos, toros, and churchills mainly, with the occasional mega-churchill (8x52). I've got a perfector mold that I don't use too often.

How is it that I can't seem to get images to display full size without clicking on them?
