Indeed so Most indeededly
Turnin' a Tamp
Finally had a free afternoon to spend in the wood shop again so I decided to try to turn a quick tamper or 2. Don't have anything decent to use for the base so I don't know how long they'll hold up but they're made out of purple heart, which is a reasonably dense and sturdy wood. Finished the same as I do my pipes, run through sand paper up to 1200 grit then tripoli compound and carnauba wax on the buffer. Anyways did a quick turning for a test, came out pretty decent but decided I wanted bigger so made a second one. Kind of a fun way to kill an afternoon.
Going to try to find something to use on the base, maybe some welch plugs or something, then might give it another go with some different woods and styles.

As hard as purpleheart is I don't know that you could ever break that thing and I don't know that your average bowl of tobacco burns hot enough either.
They look great though. Hopefully you have some luck with other woods and a base material.
