A simple reconditioning
Back in March I picked up a Dr Grabow that was little beat up.Poor thing had several scratches and dings.
As well as a healthy cake, about a nickle and a half thick.I can't find the picks I took then so trust me when
I say this little darling needed some help.First I took a dull knife after the cake and when it was opened enough
I hooked up a dremel with a sanding drum.I got the bowl down to a clean briar,I know I should have left some
of the cake, but I wanted this one to my tobaccos not who knows.I switch drums and proceeded to strip and
smooth the outside. So this brings us to yesterday,

I decided to try an experiment.I used Rit Dye (Black) mixed with 90% alcohol.I applied five coates and let it sit
overnight after the last coat before buffing.

I'm now breaking it in with SPS Sunrise, and this little pipe is well worth the efforts.Smokes like a champ and light
enough to clench without any strain.

That's the heart of the sport, Matthew! Bringing them back from the grave to be fine smokers. Good job!

Thank you for you kindness,I still need to get some wax after it and then it should really shine.I have a chunk of pear wood curing that
I'm going to try my hand a carving from scratch next.

There's nothing more noble than bringing an old pipe back from the dead. Congrats on the remodel, that pipe has been to hell & back!

If not before it will most likely be on its way now.It is my get along pipe, light enough to clench and keep my hands free.
