Restoring a pipe stand

At first I thought it was ceramic tiles but once I carefully removed the one situated in the lid I realised it is actually a piece of acrylic Perspex sheet. –Poly (methyl methacrylate).

It reminded me of a Humidor my Grandfather had[wish I had it now]that stored His pipe tobacco and Havanas along with pre World War II green tins of Lucky Strike Cigarettes in.
Remember it looked and felt like Porcelain,His pipes were kept in a rack on another table.
