    Restoring a pipe stand

I felt sorry for this pipe stand when I saw it online and with some access pipes I thought this could be restored to almost new providing a good stowage place for some of my pipes.

I think it will be quite an easy restoration project and after removing the old felt on the base I could see some screws which will make the project even easier once disassembled.
I already removed the lid and noticed one of the lips on the inside is broken. I will glue it first with wood glue and if that doesn’t work I will replace the one side.
    Progress will be following soon.

Just curious, what is the white material lining the box?

At first I thought it was ceramic tiles but once I carefully removed the one situated in the lid I realised it is actually a piece of acrylic Perspex sheet. –Poly (methyl methacrylate).

    Thanks Rick,
It reminded me of a Humidor my Grandfather had[wish I had it now]that stored His pipe tobacco and Havanas along with pre World War II green tins of Lucky Strike Cigarettes in.
Remember it looked and felt like Porcelain,His pipes were kept in a rack on another table.
Looking forwards to pix of your pipe rack when you've completed the restoration.

Thanks for sharing the story of your Grandfather’s humidor Bob. Do you perhaps know what happened to it over the years? Those pre WWII Lucky Strike tins sounds interesting.

I haven’t had any bench time since posting these photos. Hopefully over the week-end I’ll get some time to put in some elbow grease. I’ll keep you guys updated with the progress photos as I prolong. Thanks for watching.
