Indeed so Most indeededly
Homegrown
Getting things ready to start our garden again this year and found some Virginia, Perique and Nicotiana seeds a couple of you sent me a couple years ago that I had left over. Didn't have a great results last time and they wound up drying too fast.
Figure I have the seeds might give it another go. Have an old freezee that I can convert with an oldcslow cooker to try aging better this time if I get much out of them. With the house for sale I'm thinking about potting them instead of the garden so they can move with us if we sell.
Off to a decent start. First 3 rows are Virginia, next 3 Perique and the last 3 are Nicotiana. Need to look at thinning soon.

Man, that is too cool! Good luck and keep us posted during the process, I'd love to see how this turns out.

Had decent growth last time but didn't take the time to properly age/cure it and it dried too fast. Hoping for better results this time. We just reduced our asking price on the house and already have a showing so all of the garden plants may be for nothing but these I'll try to pot and bring with us if I can. Would really like to stuff one of my home made pipes with some homegrown VaPer even if it's just to say I did it.

Idk about the whole grow your own tobacco thing... I will never do it.
I grow tomatoes because my tomatoes are way better tasting right off the vine than store tomatoes off the shelf.
With GYO tobacco, the best I've ever heard anyone report is "it's a bit harsh but it's smokeable"
That's a lot of work for barely smokeable tobacco... but if you really enjoy growing stuff then why not I guess.
As long as I can get the best pipe tobacco for around 60 / lb... and many times, very good tobacco for much less, (tobacco that even doesn't mold mind you) I will leave the tobacco growing / curing / fermenting / flavoring to the experts.
Still I am interested in how your end product will turn out. I always read these DIY threads if for no more than the same reason than its hard to look away from a traffic accident.
The perique aspect is intriguing. I haven't seen many attempt to duplicate perique.
