    Pipe rack

I got tired of fishing through shelves and drawers for my pipes and as a result smoking the same ones over and over, so I decided it was time to make a rack. Here's the concept, inspired by some pix of wall-hanging racks that our friend @Tobias Lutz posted way back when on that other forum whose name I forget...

Like I say, this is just a concept, made of pine scraps. I'll get some good wood and make a real one soon. Looks like 3/4" holes will accommodate most of my pipes. 1.5" space between holes in a row, and 2" between rows seems to fit most of them in without fighting. 4.5" legs keeps all my pipes from touching the tabletop (I don't have any church wardens).

Here it is loaded with pipes (can you tell I dig cobs?):

For the real version, I'll use something other than 2x4s for legs, but the 1x6 top looks and works pretty well IMHO.

This is really cool! I've been thinking about some sort of rackery for my few pipes and I like this idea.

LOL, what you're seeing is 2 sets of MM seconds minus a few that I've given away, plus a few random other pipes including a couple of Dr. Gs. Not shown is my only really good pipe, a turkish meer, which has its own case.

I dig this, I need to make my own really bad.

I want to make a wall mounted one though...I don't know if I have the right tools though...I think a trip to a hardware store is in order!

Pretty simple - just get a small wall-hanging bookshelf and drill some evenly-spaced holes in it.

Not a bad idea, might be kind of hard to find one that isn't made of cheapo particle board....I actually really like this idea....

Got me thinking, and that is dangerous

Try to find something at a antique store that will more than likely be sold wood and may save ya a few bucks too

So I was kicking around Hobby Lobby with my wife today, and look what I found...

I may need to drill 1/2'' holes to fit some of my saddle bits...but yeah. Should be interesting to see how it turns out!

For only 7 bucks, I can't really go wrong!
