Cigar: Punch Rothschild Maduro
Size: Robusto, 4.5”x50
MSRP: $4.50
Strength: Medium-Full
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Origin: Honduras

Prelight: The double maduro is part of the Tailgate Pack from CI. This maduro is not super dark, but does have a nice chocolate color to it. The feel is firm and the veins are minimal. The scent of the wrapper is floral while the foot is chocolaty. The cold draw is woody with floral and chocolate notes.

1/3: The cigar starts off with a nice pepper kick in the retro, with a sweet wood finish. This oakiness is complimented with a bit of cream. As the first third goes up in smoke, it gets creamier and sweeter, but wood maintains as the primary flavor. Towards the transition, the creaminess fades and leather comes in to round out the oaky flavors.

2/3: The burn is great and the ash is bright and fairly dense. It lasts half the length of the cigar. Some spices join in with the leather and oak in this third as well, and soon the spices take over. Wood and spices finish up the second third.

3/3: Cream comes back a bit, and the wood fades out to allow the leather flavor more room. There is also a slight espresso flavor, as well as a vegetal taste towards the nub.

Overall: Great cigar for the price and size. Very complex at points and the construction was superb. If you like Hondurans, you’ll love this cigar!
