    Looking for a few suggestions

Well,I'm enthralled but stupid. @Haebar fixed me up with some really fine samples, but now I want to order more. So rather than ordering
just those blends I fell in love with,I'm hoping for some help with similar blends and profiles.I absolutely loved the Sutliff Highlander, and really
liked their Day's End.The C&D Red Odessa was really good but a bit spicey for everyday.I really like the Carter Hall for everyday, and I have
a bulk blend from the B&M called burley Light,it has a creamy butternut taste that I really like as well.So what would be in the same catagories?
What recomendations could you all help me with?

    Matthew

    Ok, let's try this again!

    Burley-based tobaccos to try:
    Solani 656 Aged Burley flake
    Storm Front
    Prince Albert

Other than that, what I do is search for a certain blend type on tobaccoreviews.com and see what has high ratings and high number of reviews; and give those a try.

I just got turned on to Peter Stokkebye's Cube cut burley thanks to @Emperor Zurg . If you like Carter Hall, you will like that stuff. It burns slower, tastes better (to me) and is cheaper to boot.

Highlands is just a Scottish mixture. I would check out Robert McConnell's Scottish Cake if you like the Highlander...but the Highlander will be a lot cheaper.

Other than that, I can just give you the stereotypical blends that I always recommend for starters:

Grab something from the Frog Morton series to get into Latakia. Another option is Red Rappare or Dunhill's Early Morning Pipe. All lighter on Latakia.
Grab a nice Virginia like Orlik Golden Slices or my favorite Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake
If you want to try an Aromatic, I would stay away from the "goopers." I like Haddo's Delight. All of Dan's Tobacco aromatics are excellent. Samuel Gawith Firedance is excellent as well.

If you want to get into some bolder, more full bodied smokes:

    Larrys Blend
    Nightcap
    Abingdon
    Star Of The East

I guess that is a decent starting point. Also pay attention to the "What Am I Smoking Thread." You will notice trends, and if a lot of people are smoking the same stuff, it is probably a quality leaf to put in yer pipe and smoke it.

Thank you, I'll look those up. The idea is to expand my cellar along the lines of a smooth creamy note. I do enjoy the naturals I've tried,
just want to fill it in with tobaccos that be smoked rather than aged. The idea of the NST has awakened a desire to have several differing
blends, rather than smoking the same thing repeatedly @Branzig ,what do you mean by "bolder", med to full strength is fine but I'ld like to
keep the flavors mellow and smooth.I am going to check into the Peter Stokkebye's Cube cut burley, sounds promising. Thanks again !!

I second Branzig's Star of the East. Complicated little bend, very oriental and satisfying. Won't goop and had some exotic sandalwood and incense flavors. Went from "what the hell is this." to "shoot, I'm getting low." Good in small pipes.

None of what I recommended would I consider "harsh." Bolder in flavor, more in your face latakia basically. Latakia dominant. I am a poor judge of nicotine strength because I have a high tolerance to the stuff. Everything I mentioned gives me a 0 or close to 0 nicotine hit. YMMV.

I think "mellow" and "smooth" are really subjective. I think all Balkan's and a lot of Va/Vaper/Vabur flakes are smooth as silk, but a lot of it is technique too. Sipping your pipe will yield not only more flavor profiles, but also a "smoother delivery" IMO.

Thats what I found with the Red Odessa, slow sips and it was really good. That Nightcap and the Star of the East Have caught my eye.Correct me if I'm wrong here it's
the burley that gives you the creamy nutty flavors ?

It definitely can. I think of Kendal Cream Flake. Burley either gives off a chocolate earth taste or nutty. Dark fired is a different story. That's a more smoky flavor profile then.

Have to be careful though, becuase IMO when burley is done wrong, it is the most harsh tobacco out there. Real vile stuff.
