I purchased this lighter for two primary reasons: first, I wanted a lighter that included a punch so that if I want to smoke a cigar at the B&M, I wouldn’t have to either ask for a cut or bring both a lighter and a cutter. Perhaps it is the minimalist in me, but it gets to be too much with both tools in my pocket. The second reason I bought this lighter was that this is probably the closest thing I can get to owning a Bugatti Veyron. Admittedly, I’m probably paying for the name, and the jacked up MSRP is no way indicative that the $19 I paid is a good deal, but it has a cool factor nonetheless.

The casing has a nice weight to it, reminding me of Boris the Blade: “Heavy is good. If it doesn’t work, you can always hit him with it.” The copper is unique and classy yet old school looking – slightly steam punk. However, I wonder how long it’ll take before it starts looking like an over-spent penny. The lid has a sturdy Zippo-like flip to it, exposing the actual lighter, which has a firm action to the igniter and dual flames which are angled to a single lighting area. I immediately had to turn the torch down when I bought it, as seven inches is a little long for a flame in my opinion. This brings up a downside to the product: Being that the cool copper casing is just that, a casing, one must remove the insert to refill the tank and/or adjust the flame.

The punch is sharp and neatly designed. There is a peg which kicks out the cut portion of the cap when the spring-loaded punch is snapped back in place. It can be difficult to get the punch out if you have recently cut your nails, but the device is sturdy and seemingly durable. This definitely gets the job done.

Overall, the form is elegant and simple. The function is flawless. The lighter has been my go-to lighter since its purchase mid-January. I have filled it once, which given the size of the tank, was a slight disappointment. But since there are two flames, I suppose this is to be expected. At $15-$20, I would recommend this lighter to anyone who is in the market and uses punches.

I have the B-1001 (same internal design, different case). I like the removable insides because you can really see what you are doing when bleeding it and filling. No guessing.

I've got the same lighter, about a year old, have used nothing but ronson, and no problems.

I'll have to check, but I know it's not a real known brand. Just a can I got from the B&M here. After refilling I have to find a sweet spot where there is enough flow to keep it from sputtering but not so high the flame is six inches long. I have also taken a qtip and cleaned up the nozzle a couple of times.

I have the same on. Flawless flame if you purge it each time you fill. My only dislike is that it gets very hot if you use it too long.

I have the silver one also, and I can't even use the damn thing. IF I can get a flame it is maybe every 10th time of striking but it doesn't stay lit. I think I am using ronson butane. Any suggestions on what I can do to make it work?
