My Humidor Project
like 042.jpglike 043.jpglike 045.jpg
always had a 25ct, and a 50ct, so after 60yrs smoking I bought a 400ct box real cheap and started seasoning and remodeling it. needed to remove the heavy cedar smell so I used a coffee vanilla mix to remove the cedar smell and after 2mos it now has a nice coffee aroma. been buying samplers to fill it but as fast as them come I smoke them, but Im gaining slowly. Im going to put a blue LED lighting system in it so the cigar can be seen in a blue haze through the glass. also going to build box racks to replace the flat racks. top right is my resting cigars got 23 days on a couple of them. as I work on this box I will update. any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are using the foam stick for humidification I suggest switching those out with either Boveda Packs or HF Beads. Much easier to maintain IMO and less likely to grown mold!

Waiting on Octember 1st
It's always a good idea to check the glass on a humidor and if you suspect it leaks a bit, use fume free aquarium sealant and run a bead around the pane on the inside of the lid. It makes a big difference in the winter, especially.

I saw thay humidor on ebay for like $60. Thought about picking it up but assumed it would be a project sealing leaks.

Just a heads up, but if it was a spanish cedar smell it had, thats not a bad thing and is completely normal for humidors to have. If it was me personally, I would not have done the coffee/vanilla mix thing. I'd be too afraid that it would be imparting unwanted aromas into my cigars.
Looking good though. Not sure what you meant by "box racks" but if you mean something like the top tray for storing singles and not boxes, you could also use these trays if they fit. http://www.cheaphumidors.com/other/c...h-divider.html Or you can just get some empty cigar boxes and fill those up to use as single storage.
If you end up deciding to build more racks or whatnot, be sure to use spanish cedar for it.

cool looking humidor. although all that glass most likely will lead to issues. one of my first humidors was a display type with glass on 4 sides. The damn thing leaked so much air it was basically unusable.
and that is interesting that you prefer coffee smell to the cedar. One of my favorite things about my wineador is that pungent tobacco/cedar aroma when I open it!

In the strangest of places if you look at it right
