Flor de Ybor City
Anyone have any experience with Flor de Ybor City Cigars?
I was recently generously gifted several of these and really enjoyed them, but had never heard of them before. Unfortunately I'm unable to figure out who gave them to me to ask questions, so here I am.
For anyone with experience, I'm considering the 4 Cigar sampler including:
1 - Pierce 7 1/4" x 48 Ga
1 - Toro 4 1/2" x 50
1 - No. 80 6" x 50 Ga
1 - Belicoso 5 1/2" x 49 Ga
I also have my choice of maduro, natural or sun grown wrappers. Of the 3 I had 2 were maduros and one natural.
I'm leaning towards the sun grown, as the sun growns of every other marca I have had was excellent.
Anyone with experience able to offer info or opinions?

Had a No. 80 before I got in a big bulk buy. I gave it a great on my rating scale. They are made by Fuente if I recall correctly.
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

Yeah, the ones i have had so far were great too.
Yes, they mention their ties to Fuente on Tampa Sweethearts.

So, decided to order finally.
Went with the Sungrown as I have enjoyed every Sungrown wrapper smoke I have had, and have already had the maduro and Natural, so wanted a little change of pace

They are indeed made by Fuente. A couple years ago I went into Tampa Sweethearts on a Saturday morning when they opened. Arturo himself was there. He gave us a quick tour of the shop and
talked about all the cigars they were involved in. He also told us his every day cigar was the Flor de Ybor City. Out of all the cigars at his disposal, that was his choice.
I order them quite often and they are a great smoke at a very modest price point.
Couple of things I've learned. I like good Bourbon and hate wet toilet paper.

Very cool you are able to visit the actual b&m store. I haven't been in an an actual Cigar shop in years as there just really aren't many in Wyoming.
I met Carlito Fuente once too when I was at Casa Fuente in Las Vegas. He hung out with me at my table for like an hour chatting and smoking with me, and even went into the humidor with me to reccomend some of his smokes for me to buy.
Also got a picture with him and he autographed my litmited batch bottle of Jack Daniels they were selling for their charity
Really friendly, nice guy.
Really seems to appreciate meeting his fans.
Very interesting that the Flor de Ybor city is his goto smoke.
I can see why though as based on the 4 I've had, they are excellent smokes at a bargain price

Very excited to try the different vitolas in the sampler, and try them out with the Sungrown wrapper.
Also adds some more diversity to my stock as I have plenty of naturals and maduros, so nice to add some more Sungrowns to it

I had the same experience about 2 years ago as well. Really like them.

Very cool you guys have been to the actual shop and met Carlito. Great guy, and the Flor de Ybor City's are a real sleeper smoke, as i never see them mentioned on the several forums I belong to, and had never heard of them until I was given a few and looked them up. The connection with Carlito Fuente explains a lot about their quality.
Definitely very good for the price.
Very excited to get my Sungrown Sampler and get them resting and acclimating so I can start trying them in about a month.

I got to meet Arturo Jr. He spent a long time just talking cigars with me and even wrote me well wishes in a box a bought as a surprise. Probably one of the coolest cigar experiences I've had (outside of the orgy of course). If you are ever in the Tampa area, you have to go.
