    F'ing California

So my latest hurdle in obtaining bundles of leaf to burn here in Kommiefornia is Senate Bill 39.

This bill would additionally require sellers, distributors, and nonsale distributors to deliver*tobacco*products only in conspicuously marked containers, as specified, and to obtain the*signature*of a person*21*years of age or older before delivering a*tobacco*product.
The hours I keep do not lend well to this, nor does the locale of the nearest shipping hubs.

The big guys are all already acting on it - some asking for additional verification of age prior to ordering. (Note, I don't blame retailers for following the law).

I'm tossing around the idea of getting a box at one of those "middleman" shipping stores ( a P.O. box does me no good - same hours of the front desk), but I don't think the math pencils out.

Buying local at the box level makes no sense with the 69% tax.

I may just have others mule boxes for me, but even that has a cost.

What really sucks for me AND the small business I deal with is buying a fiver or even my COTM clubs becomes a hassle.

I think it's long past time that premium cigars are given an exemption. I actually believe that lawmakers are likely doing this for the right reason--to keep underage kids from ordering Juul and other smokeless tobacco products off of the internet. And IMO, those things in the hands of kids are no bueno--some are smoking the equivalent of 5 packs a day worth of nicotine with no awareness of its effects. But to lump premium cigars into that category is just ridiculous. It's simply not the same product even if it all has its roots in "tobacco."

I try to avoid mixing work and personal stuff - once they delivered my ammo to a different department and some people were weirded out.
But that may be my only option - a YEAR from now! Currently under construction and stuff gets lost all the time right now.

I don't have emotions, and sometimes that makes me very sad.

We're all going to have the same problem with this as now UPS is requiring signatures and most of the big guys use UPS. Some you can direct to USPS priority for a few bucks more and those will be the ones I'll have to use in the future. I do have a tax free Native American shop about 45 minutes from me so I can direct some more business to them, but they don't carry much of what I normally buy or smoke. It won't help you at all TJ but Small Batch still ships USPS so for now that's another good alternative. But if this bill rolls thru or one of the others that bans internet sales all together we are all screwed.

Be happy to help TJ with turnaround or splits and if you're looking for something my most local carries I know they ship USPS and like I said - tax free.
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

    Appreciate the offers guys (enablers!).

Tony, you saying UPS adopted a company policy requiring signatures for tobacco?

California made it State law for any courier. My last Holt's order was USPS and they stuck me with the damn signature slip!

Thus far, my un-named COTM club has not started this, but im sure it's just a matter of time.

Yes, UPS started requiring signatures so companies are already announcing that shipping rates will increase as UPS charges a fee for signature.
