Flake, coins, rope, cube cut, etc

So, curious with the types of cut listed in the title, how does one make them usable in a pipe? Is it able to just be broken into something akin to ready Rubbed or similar in consistency by hand, do you chop it up with scissors or a knife?

How do the various "solid" tobaccos be made smokable?

I have some hard, large chunks of tobacco in some of what I was bombed with, so I'm curious how you make it smaller, finer, etc that I would assume needs to be done to make it smokable, and there's a couple blends I'm eying for next moths order of more of what I've liked, and others I think I would like based on the ingredients being similar to the blends I have enjoyed the most so far.

One is Newminster: No.400 Superior Navy Flake. How do you make these large, thin, bark looking" pieces smokeable?

I break off a small portion and rub it out with my fingers. Then I let it dry until it's ready the way I like it.
I just spread it out on a paper towel until it's dry enough for me.

Find what works for you because it's up to the individual what works the best for them.

Right on the nose!

Once you get past ribbon cut, it can get a little confusing. I usually only pull out my knife if it’s a blend like Triple Play for example ( which is a plug ) basically a compressed brick. I’ll slice off how much I plan to smoke, then rub it out as stated above. Flakes, coins, etc.. can most all be done that way. Though most flake I do a bend, gentle twist and then slide it in the chamber.

You may not like doing it that way, so experiment, it’s part of the fun 🙂
