Nat Sherman 536 According to Bruck
A buddy visited the Nat Sherman store in NYC recently, and brought me back a cigar and some pipe tobacco. The cigar had excellent flavor, but was a little lacking in the burn department - perhaps it needed to convalesce a bit in a cedar-lined box.
The pipe tobacco he chose for me was Nat Sherman 536 English Empire. Overall I'm really diggin it; here's the formal review:
Appearance - your basic coarse ribbon cut, mix of lights and darks including Cavendish.
Tin note: good - the Latakia is evident.
I used a gravity fill with light tamping. Pipe is a cheap briar with thin walls but a nice big bowl.
Initial light: could really taste the latakia and burleys, but it also had a sweet licorice note, even though it's not an aro.
Mid bowl: flavors melded pretty well, a very clean English, and the licorice abated but was still there.
Bottom of the bowl - about the same as mid bowl, getting slightly damp, required a couple relights.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with this blend. If I were in the market for tobacco, which I'm not bcs I have bales of the stuff, I'd definitely get more.

I've had that. Tobias sent me about half a tin of it. It was a nice, sweet English. I liked it. Seems it did finish a little wet most times I smoked it. Reminded me a lot of Rattrays Red Rapparee

I just learned from my daughter's BF that Nat Sherman also makes premium cigarettes. I'll have to give them a try some time although I'm not much into cigarettes.

I know a few people who love the Nat Sherman cigarettes. Never tried them.

Is that not a great store? Beautiful woodwork in there, and friendly staff.
It is kind of weird not being able to go into the humidor without an attendant right by your side though. I don't know if that's a customer service thing or a loss prevention thing, or a combo of both.
But that was my favorite thing to do in NYC by far.
Check out my Youtube channel, Razorback Piper Guy if you like that sort of thing.

Although loss prevention would be the most likely reason - I imagine a few cigars would be really easy to pilfer - it would be nice to believe it was to prevent manhandling of the merchandise; especially cigars without cello. IDK about you but I'd rather not have dozens of anonymous, unwashed dick-grabbers all over something I plan to put in my mouth.

IMO the terms 'cigarette' and 'premium' are mutually exclusive...

I picked some up at my favorite B&M, Cville Tobacco in Charlottesville, VA. Tried one. It was good for a ciggie, but like I say, I'm not much into ciggies. Brought them up north (Lake Superior) with me and the mother of Bruck and wife of Bruck enjoyed them. Left the rest up with MOB.
