First Impression - Frog Morton Across the Pond

This isn't a full review, just a first impression as I've only had a couple of bowls so far.

I've never had a blend with Syrian latakia before and wasn't sure what to expect. I don't know if it is inherently more subtle than Cyprian latakia or if this blend just has much less of it.

The tin note surprised me because most of the time with an English blend I open the tin and all I smell is latakia. It overpowers all other smells to my individual senses anyway. With this blend you take a sniff and smell......ketchup, just like most McClelland Virginias.

I really enjoy the taste of the blend. Just like in the tin note the latakia takes a back seat to the Virginias in taste as well.
It is very pleasantly sweet and while the latakia isn't that much of a presence at first it seems to get more prevalent as the bowl progresses.

I like it a lot so far, as I have the other FM blends I've tried.

I forgot to mention, that this would be ideal for a person wanting to experiment with latakia for the first time. It isn't overpowering at all.

Also, if you are on the fence about them, try this one. If the latakia is too strong in this blend, you probably just don't like it.

Supposedly, Syrian Lat is mellower than the more prevalent Cyprus variety. I'm pretty sure I've only had the latter.
