Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu No 5 Review

I got this little cigar as part of the Small Cigar Pass, and while grilling up some lunch, I thought it the perfect opportunity to try it and write a review.

    Here she is:

Beautiful chocolate brown wrapper, no visible seams. Upon clipping, the draw was nice and easy, not too loose but not too tight. Light cocoa flavor on the cold draw. The band is a nice silver/red affair that's really attractive against the cigar. It makes the band "pop" just right. It lit up perfectly, with no issues.

Upon lighting, my first impressions - great smoke generated per puff, with a dominate cocoa and earthy flavor. I got hints of spice and graham cracker, with a nice light spice on the retrohale. Very easy to retrohale on this one early on, smooth and easy. Medium all the way.

The ash created was very tight and white, but fell off easily when gently settled on a Stinky ashtray.

The 2nd half picks up with a kick of spice - no more light spice/medium at all here. Medium moves to medium-full, and the cocoa shifts from a sweeter type to a dark cocoa, not too bitter...but very pronounced. The retrohale now yields a sharper spice, cinnamon and nutmeg, that's prominent but not irritating or over the top.

As I near nub territory, the spiciness tends to dominate and is intense at times - it's delicious! Lots of smoke rolling off this little stogie at this point. You have to let it rest between puffs to avoid overheating, which just happens with smaller ring gauge sticks like these.

Total smoking time - around 25 minutes.

Not overly complex, but very tasty, and enough to keep me interested puff by puff. If cocoa/spicy/earthy is your palate preference, this little number just might be the stick for you.

Looking forward to getting more of these as the evenings turn cool, and fall settles in! They are available in boxes of 50.

    Thanks for reading!

Nice review. This size shines among the Havana VI, IMO.

Thanks for the review and I agree with Mark - this is the best of an already good line. It takes me about 45-50 minutes to smoke too, so just perfect for sitting out back and watching a TV show on the computer or something like that. I've knocked a couple back lately watching Rome and Banshee.
