Saga Golden Age - Lancero review
7" x 40 rg
Here we have the fourth and final vitola of the Saga Golden Age blend. It's as long as a Super Star Destroyer! (If the mood strikes me, I will feature some of my LEGO sets in the background of future reviews)
The wrapper looks as if it was carved from a solid piece of milk chocolate, with big huge veins on it. Veins are generally undesirable because they can act as wicks and cause the cigar burn to run, but in my case the veins did something else, which I will touch upon later.
The foot has syrup and wood notes. The pre-light draw yields the taste of something musty and sweet, but I can't pinpoint what exactly.
Lighting it up, I am greeted immediately with notes of coffee. Oddly, there's no spice at all on the retrohale! More puffs yield chocolate and tobacco notes, as well as a mineral taste.
1" in, some creaminess comes out, as well as a nice sweetness. The mineral notes + the sweetness combine and my brain spits out "rock sugar candy". I've never seen this on a tasting wheel, but it's on there now!
1/3rd in, spice finally shows itself on the retrohale, but it's a mild spiciness.
1/2 way through, the creaminess has become sweet. It's quite interesting how the creaminess has taken on that sweetness.
And there we have it.
This was my favorite of the line, despite being plagued with continual burn issues. On the underside of the cigar there were two large veins running close together, and that part of the cigar just didn't want to burn. I had to keep touching it up, over and over again.
Overall I would give the Saga Golden Age line a "Try One" rating, with the Lancero edging up into a "5er".

Excellent review and awesome LEGOs!
To smoke is human; to smoke cigars, divine.
