Quesada Oktoberfest (Kurz / 4 x 50)
Initial Puffs:
Dark, and grainy or textured wheat. May or may not have been exactly wheat, but it was somewhere close. Nice amount of pepper and spices. Slight leather on the end.
Afterwards:
The dark wheat turns to a nice dark bread. Seems like just a dark, grainy or textured bread - exact bread is undiscernable at first. Starts to seem like a dark rye. Ends up a very nice dark pumpernickel. It's a deep background to what's going on and is the highlight.
Residual changes as you progess, and matches the bread.
Pepper builds, and goes nicely with the dark breadiness. Spices become strong as well, and add another nice layer to the burn, and compliments the bread well.
Wonky burn. There was a quadrant that didn't want to burn. Hit it a couple times - came back nicely for a bit.
Remember thinking about wanting a pale, clean and crisp lager or kolsch. You probably wouldn't want to go hefeweizen or wheat beer - too much wheat going on.
Judgement:
Superb stick. Paid $8-9, and it was well worth it. Definitely fitting for a German theme, and I look forward to drinking some nice lagers or kolschs with this stick any time of the year. Only noted the issues for my next go-round.
Highly recommended.
