    Partagas 1845 Clasico (Robusto)

    Intro:

Ever go against your gut when dining at a nice place, then fill that gut to a point where you regret it? Sure you have. And that was my situation for the last 30 mins there. On top of the fatty fatty fat pig feeling, the internal body temperate was rising, the "-itis" was kickin in, the waiter was taking forever...and I was getting antsy. Biked home, no longer felt like a disgusting pig pile after, but I needed a chill-ass cigar to cap the night and calm the nerves.

    Pre-Smoke Judgement:

She'll give me exactly what I need. A medium, chill, nothing too special, tasty smoke. Bought a fiver around Xmas on Cbid for about $8-12, based on a friend's recommendation. He said these were his favorites are the time. I think this is #3 of the 5.

    Initial Stuff:

Punch'd (cigar) and plopped (ass). Didn't realize this was a CT broadleaf (CI info). Never remember a broadleaf taste in the others. Now I've gotta research broadleaf types and their characteristics - but that will be another day.

    1/3:

Smooth. No spice. Not strong whatsoever. Nice and chill. Good for a fat pig with a full belly that needs something with a little bite, but isn't heavy. CI says it's creamy. Still not sure what "creamy" means, but it sure as hell doesnt remind me of the creamy cauliflower mash my wife had...and that's a good thing (even though I enjoyed the cauliflower). I'm just chillin, my bums. What else does CI say...Toast and nutty flavors. Well, maybe your sophisticated palate can discern these, but not mine. I've had my fair share of both nuts and toast, ranging from white to rye and peanuts to walnuts, and the 1845 doesn't make me think of anything toast or nut related.

    2/3:

Still chillin. Still enjoying it. Lovin it? No, but I'm content. Solid taste reaching the 2/3. No sharp broadleaf flavors, thus far. I decide to hit hard and search for the broadleaf. The broadleaf peeks out and brushes the nose, but brings a less pleasant flavor along with it, . Gonna stick to regualr pulling. And we're back to the medium bite that's been the prevalent taste since the beginning. Reaching the halfway point now. Let's turn on a podcast to reach another level of chill, to celebrate the beginning of the 4th of July. Nick DiPaolo sounds good. The 1845 has been sidetacking a bit. Is it an issue? Not to me. I'm chillin and I've got plenty of fire. CI says this is a relaxing cigar...now that's something my palate agrees with.

    3/3:

The flavor's a little stronger, but I like the bite. Still no sharp broadleaf. Maybe CT broadleaf is less sharp, more like a colby jack? A little broadleaf whispers the nose after writing that...I'm hoping it took the colby jack insult personally. Maybe it did because the broadleaf just poked out again. Not spicy, but the edge is getting a little sharper. The residual taste is coffee-like. CI says it's an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with CT broadleaf binder. Maybe that means more of a hint of broadlead? The hints are there now. Just googled the wrapper. Holt's says a "slightly sweet aftertaste". Maybe it was there earlier. No cinnamon. I'm gonna wrap this review up as I near the end of the first quarter. Why? Because I wanna ride the chill and I don't think there's more to add.

    Trial By Smoke Judgement:

Definitely a relaxing smoke. I probably won't buy anymore soon, partly because I believe I have one more. Mostly because I'd rather search for similar, chill smokes with a nice bite, and I'm interested in checking more into what the Partagas brand offers. But for the pricepoint off Cigarbid being around $2-3 each, I'm more than satisfied with them. They're a good sub $4-5 smoke.
