    Opus X PerfecXion X Review

    Opus X Perfecxion X

Wrapper-Dominican Republic Shade Grown Rosado (Chateau De La Fuente)

    Filler-Dominican

    Vitola- Toro 6 ¼ x 48

    MSRP $15

I believe this was a 2012 release. Humidor time was 7 months at 65%

Appearance-Firm to the touch, the Perfecxion X has a clean triple cap, a rustic looking wrapper with an almost paper bag like feel, an absence of tooth and oil and is slightly veiny with barely visible seams.

Aroma – From the foot of the cigar I am able to pick up cedar, hay and a pleasant floral aroma as well as pungent aged tobacco with a hint of spice. The head is somewhat flat, a punch cut seems fitting. The cold draw is muy caliente w/red pepper, sweet peppermint & cedar.

1st-Toasting the foot, the first initial puffs bring a blast of of red pepper on a woody tobacco core w/a faint hint of star anise. The pepper is a bit harsh on the back of the throat and Im hoping it settles down. Body is a solid Med at this point.

Construction-The draw is perfect with the right amount of resistance, the smoke is thick and voluminous, the burn is even and the ash is solid with an attractive light grey hue; it held on for well over an inch before I tapped it off. The cigar is able to sit for long periods without needing resuscitation, which allows me to slowly sip the cigar and enjoy its subtle nuances.

Moving into the second 3rd im picking up an interesting earthy note (like sweet mushroom) as well as a sweet caramel, the woodiness and spice remain but the red pepper has almost completely disappeared. It is now smoking very smooth & creamy allowing me to gently retrohale the smoke and enjoy its pleasant floral aroma. Delightful.

30 min in it continues to produce mouth watering smoke.

Final 3rd-The earth & caramel is flit in and out, replaced by a dominant leather. The spice continues and pops on the tongue with a somewhat longer finish. Body is up to Med-Full; Im feeling the strength ramp up as well. I also pick up subtle notes of lemon citrus and sugary cinnamon candy sweetness. Balanced and complex.

Final smoke time 1 hour 45 min

Final thoughts: The MSRP is $15, mine had a $21 sticker on it (purchased in MN). If you are a fan of Dominican tobaccos and can find these close to MSRP it’s a great buy as it delivers impeccable construction, dynamic changes in profile, a ton of flavor and a smoking experience that is sure to satisfy.

    Very nice review.

I have a few of these in my humi...but I never reach for one. That may have to change.

    Thanks for the review.
One game in Utah, Jordan dunked on John Stockton. Jazz owner Larry Miller yelled "pick on someone your own size." On the next possession he dunked on 7'1 center Mel Turpin and shouted "he big enough for you?"

When told that Clyde Drexler was a better three-point shooter than him, Jordan responded "Clyde is a better three-point shooter than I choose to be." Then he hit 6 threes in game 1.
