Oliva Series G Churchill

Size: 7 x 50
Strength: Mild more toward medium
Flavor: Medium
Blend Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper Origin: African

Initial Impression
This series by Oliva is well constructed with a light colored wrapper from Cameroon. Roll this cigar between your fingers and you’ll find it loosely packed. The Churchill is particularly long and with any cigar over a Toro size I went to be weary of early tar buildup.

Draw & Burn
Because this is a mild to medium strength cigar the flavors aren’t overpowering. The initial draw was very mild with a hint of spiciness. The draw is fairly loose, though I have smoked a few where it was tighter than expected. Of course at seven inches you can sometimes assume a tighter draw. And, this Series G always burns even.

Flavor & Aroma
The flavors don’t come into play until the second third. The hints of spices and coffee begin to form with each draw. This is a very soothing cigar. The last third brings more spicy notes, leaning towards pepper now instead of coffee. Due to its length often times by the last third the tar is enough for me to finish up. With any narrow and long cigar your cut can define the smoke.

Final Impression
Overall this is a great morning or afternoon smoke, something you can have on an empty stomach or with a light beverage. The flavors are more on the one dimensional side, something normally expected from a mild to medium strength cigar. But, overall a great smoke and perfect for non smokers or beginners.
