Cigar: Nub Habano 358
Size: Gordo, 3.7”x58
MSRP: $6.35
Strength: Medium-Full
Wrapper: Ecuador Habano
Origin: Nicaragua

Prelight: The Nub Habano has a chocolate colored wrapper with a few very small veins. The whole cigar is very firm to the touch, with no soft spots, yet does not appear to be overfilled at all either. The aroma of the wrapper reminds me of milk, while the foot is very woody with a hint of cocoa. The cold draw has a bit of resistance – but not too bad – and has a faint woody taste.

1/3: The cigar starts with some Nicaraguan spiciness, but is also very creamy. Not only in flavor, but in the “chewy” smoke as well. The peppery burn goes away quickly, and is replaced with earthy, leathery coffee. At the transition to the second third, I am tasting mostly leather and some baking spices.

2/3: As is par for a Nub, the burn and ash is just amazing. The second third has evolved to being mostly earth and cream in flavor, with just a hint of bitter chocolate. But, as I pass through the halfway point, earth increases and the second third ends as earthy coffee.

3/3: The final third evolves again and wood is added to the earthy flavors. The ash fell right as I got into the last third. The cigar never gets harsh and burns cool.

Overall: Another excellent Nub cigar. Construction is perfect and the flavors are full in body and delicious. This particular Nub is probably my favorite of the ones I tried for this round of reviews. I am not a huge fan of the vitola, but if this is the only way to get such an enjoyable cigar, I will concede. Two thumbs up. If your have yet to true anything from the Nub line, pick up a sampler soon.
