Liga Privada Flying Feral Pig Review

    Liga Privada Flying Ferral Pig
    Manufacturer: Drew Estate
    Brand: Liga Privada Unico Series
Size: Flying Feral Pig 5 3/8x60
    Cost: $14.00
    Rest Time: ?
    Burn Time: 2:40

Prelight: The cigar has a rock hard dense even pack. The wrapper is almost black with a smooth oily feel and not a single visible seam. The cap is punctuated by a tightly wrapped pig tail. Prelight aroma is dark chocolate, cedar, must and a fruity spice, very fragrant. I lop the pig tail with my Xikar xi and off we go. Prelight draw is spicy dark chocolate covered raisins.

    1st 3rd:

On first draw I get a cocoa and cinnamon, black coffee and some pungent pepper. After the pig settles down I get rich black coffee and cotton candy with the pepper fading a bit. The finish is quit interesting it has this incredibly fresh water taste reminding me of Evian water. Weird right? I have always associated the flavors in Evian with eating newly fallen snow. It just has this really fresh, icy clean, smooth finish. The smoke is plentiful, sweet, velvety and medium in body.

    2nd 3rd:

Entering the second third the coffee remains. The cotton candy flavors have morphed into wonderful cherry cola flavors, not quite the 23 flavors of Dr. Pepper, but more like Cherry Coke Zero. The black pepper is ramping up mid-palate causing a strong tingle on the tongue. The Evian flavors remain on the finish with the addition of a pronounced cedar. The body has moved up to full and I'm feeling some mild strength coming in.

    Final 3rd:

Two hours in I finally reach the last third of the FFP, combination of slow smoker and thick leaf. Smoke output is relentless, still full bodied with the mild strength still there. Strong black coffee and cedar flavors are dominant with a subtle cinnamon sugar. The black pepper has moved to the back of the throat accompanied by cedar on the finish. A late retrohale causes some major nasal burn and eye watering, I won't try that again.

    Summary:

The FFP required one relight at the halfway point and two small touch ups. I never really had high expectations for any of the Liga Privada line, not because the weren't quality cigars, but more because they just didn't match my preferred flavor profile. That all changed with the FFP. To say I loved this cigar would be an understatement. The cigar was rich, oily, sweet and the flavors were so complex it was a pleasant surprise. This is one of the few cigars I've paid double digits for that was worth the price of admission.

This is an extraordinary smoke IMO!
Too bad it's so hard to get, or expensive.
If you haven't, try the T-52.
    Thanks for the review.

Great review, glad you liked it! I love em too but yes, rare and pricey!
