JDN Antano 1970 Review
7/9/2014
Cigar: Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970 Consul
Size: Robusto, 4.5”x52
MSRP: $6.30
Strength: Full
Wrapper: Criollo
Origin: Nicaragua
Prelight: The Antano has a Rosado colored wrapper that has slight veins throughout. The wrapper has a feint woodiness to it, and the densely packed foot smells of baking spices. The cold draw has the same taste of baking spices with some nuttiness to it.
1/3: Ooohh, spicy! Pepper hits strong starting off, and is quickly joined with cedar. But soon, delicious cream is added to the mix rounding everything out. The pepper kind of fades in and out, and by the end of the first third, I notice the cigar canoeing.
2/3: Since my lighter has ran out of fuel, I just let the canoeing happen and hope it fixes itself. (Spoiler alert: it does.) There is a bit of chocolaty sweetness to the cigar at this point, and at halfway, the baking spices I noticed arrive.
3/3: The ash has been great on this cigar, lasting over a third at a time. Hay is added to the flavor profile in the final third, and everything mellows out nicely into the nub.
Overall: Nice cigar. There was something quite enjoyable about the simplicity in this cigar; it was not pretentious or overly complex. The subtle flavor transitions were welcomed. The construction was pretty good, as although it canoed, it corrected in time. I’d definitely smoke this one again.

To smoke is human; to smoke cigars, divine.

The G.O.A.T.
Excellent review as always, Layne. Thanks.
One game in Utah, Jordan dunked on John Stockton. Jazz owner Larry Miller yelled "pick on someone your own size." On the next possession he dunked on 7'1 center Mel Turpin and shouted "he big enough for you?"
When told that Clyde Drexler was a better three-point shooter than him, Jordan responded "Clyde is a better three-point shooter than I choose to be." Then he hit 6 threes in game 1.
