Freshly Homeless
I'm Back...
My order from CI came in last week, and I added it to the modest selection of cigars that I picked-up the day before. My little humidor now holds the better part of a bundle of Flor de Oliva (Toro-sized), a couple of Punch seconds, and a couple of Padilla seconds. Love the Flor de Olivas, the Punch seconds are pretty good, but I'm not so fond of the Padilla seconds.
The other day I also ordered a "2fer" on Flor del Todo's. These seem to be as controversial now as they were back when I used to smoke them (a lot), with most people considering them dog rockets. I kind of like them, but I also hold no illusions about them. When you get a bad one, they're squishy and they taste like an ashtray has been dumped down your throat. However, when you get a good one they're not half bad - thus you really need the 2fer offer to break even... at least, that's how I remember them. They were yard smokes. Nothing more or less, but I liked them. I guess I'll see how I like them nearly 10 years later.
I've spent a few evenings now, smoking a cigar just before I go to bed... and sipping on a bottle of Blue Star or porter while I'm at it. Sweet Nirvana. Don't know if I'm ever gonna love them as much as I love a pipe, but so far it's not been too far off. However, I do know I'm gonna look forward to two or three a week. It's good to be back.
