Gurkha Beauty Review
4/8/2014
Cigar: Gurkha Beauty
Size: Toro, 6.3"x56 (Box-pressed)
MSRP: $24.00
Strength: Mild-Medium
Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut
Origin: Honduras
Prelight: The beauty smells a bit like cardboard on the wrapper, which is smooth and soft (almost velvety) with nearly no veins. There is definite cocoa coming from the foot.Clipping the cap with a double guillotine, the cold draw seems a bit loose and is also cocoa.
1/3: I immediately get the cocoa I was smelling when I light it up. The draw is indeed loose, but it’s not too bad and I get a decent amount of smoke pouring out of this cigar. There is also a little bit of hay flavor which intensifies as the third progresses. The burn line is straight and the ash is a light grey; it hangs on for the entire third before falling.
2/3: I could just copy and paste the first third here. Hay and cocoa. Impressive ash. Great burn line. Not much else to say.
3/3: Besides getting a little hot and bitter towards the nub, more of the same. Hay. Cocoa. Great construction.
Overall: Not a bad cigar. I like the flavors, albeit monotone. The construction was perfect, besides a slightly loose draw, but that is just based on my preference. I’m glad I have another one of these. Maybe not for myself (or maybe so), but I definitely wouldn’t be ashamed to a guest who doesn’t smoke often. If you’re a noob or just looking for a cheap (nevermind the MSRP - these are found at $2 easily) yard gar, grab a Gurkha Beauty. Just don’t expect an array of flavors, and she’ll treat you right.
To smoke is human; to smoke cigars, divine.

Nice honest review! Glad to see you gave it a fair shot. Not the typical Gurkha bashing.
With that being said, I agree on the pretty plain flavors. My experience with the draw was the opposite though, could have been because I smoked it ROTT.
Thanks for the review!

Got ten of those been resting a year and a half. Bought in before becoming a lurker or dare I say cigar collector, just haven't got to them yet. Thanks for the review. Enjoy

Nice review. I like these well enough, too. Pleasant and inoffensive.

Sounds pretty good to me. I've not tried the Beauty. I have had 2 of the Beast and liked them quite a bit.
Check out my Youtube channel, Razorback Piper Guy if you like that sort of thing.
