Construction- Beautifully made cigar; no veins, no soft spots, triple capped.
Cold draw - Cedar flavors with a little earthiness as well. The draw is firm, but not too tight
First third – opens right up with chocolate sweetness, some cedar, and spice. The chocolate is - bam - right in your face. Spice is a little strong on the retro, but not unbearable. As the first third progresses, all the flavors remain, but not as intense as they were in the open. There is also the occasional sour flavor, maybe orange peel? The smoke output is pretty strong, ash holds for almost two inches, and I am really digging the first third.
Second third – continues along with the spice picking up, mainly on the retro. The chocolate is still there, but the citrus and cedar has died down a bit. The flavors are becoming more “earthy”, for lack of a better term.
Third - Burn has remained perfect, as has draw. This is one beautifully made cigar. There isn’t a vast transition in flavors, although the chocolate has disappeared and leather is dominant, with no sweetness at all. Spice is still humming along on the retro, but not overpowering. I smoked it until my fingers burned.
Overall- I really liked this cigar. The flavors changed just enough to keep me interested, and the draw and burn were perfect. I will definitely be picking up more of these, and this experience has sparked my interest to try both the Papa and Cub sizes.
