Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Mi Querida (Robusto)

    [Review Preview]

    Intro:

Kickin' the tempo and energy down a notch for this one. Had to make a stop at the B&M to see if they carried low 60s Bovedos. However, they did not. Was looking for something broadleaf, something similar to the DE BOTL and Tatuaje Broadlead Reserva; amd was suggested the MQ.

    Pre-Smoke Judgement:

Smells smoky, and interesting. Had the red label MQ about a week or two ago, and it was pretty good from what I remember, and it was the first Dunbarton I believe I've ever had.

    *Blue Label MQ*

    1/2

Lots of stuff we're going on with the MQ. First off, it was on the far edge of being a medium-full. Hints of possible dark chocolate, and peat; and thoughts of strong espresso. Draw was a little tight. Heavy dark tobacco flavor, kinda reminded me of a fired cured tobacco. Packed with nicotine, and I began to feel it's strength close the 2/3-1/2 point. Great cigar, complex blend and cool "flavors". Maybe some cardamom. Residual was smoky, but not peaty.

    2/2:

The MQ changed speed on me in a nice way. It went from almost full to near lightly med-plus. Sweetness kicked in. Thought of a strong and milky latte. Residual became a thicker smoky, and still not peaty. Nicotine was making my heart beat pick up. She was still strong, but a little lighter than the 1\2. Cardamom was still hinted or thought of. Near the 3/3 the strong latte became an espresso aftertaste, where it's not really bitter in a bad way.

    Deep Smoke Thoughts:

I was thinking of the Mi Querida translation - my mistress. Took three years of Spanish, but that was sixteen years ago...thankfully CI gave me the translation. Thought about how and why this cigar was named during my smoke sesh, and I formed an opinion as to why. Afterwards it made me then think of the naming process. I won't share my opinion here, because it may be inappropriate, hard for me to structure into words...and is more than likely, complete and utter garbage. BUT, I will say "Mi Querida" is a fitting name by the way it made me think about it's name, naming process, and the feeling and taste I recieved. Give her a smoke yourself...and maybe you can see where I'm going with this.

    Trial By Smoke Judgement:

Worth the $10-11. It was an intense but fun smoke. Stay away if you don't like mild-med nicotine rushes. I dose myself regularly with 4-8 mg pouches, and it STILL got me. Check out the MQ or the red label with the same name. This cigar makes me want to go back to the red label and compare, and check out more from Dunbarton.

Nice review. I also get a lot of peat and smokiness from the Mi Querida. Even though it's one of the more affordable offerings from Saka, I think it's his finest blend. I particularly like the robusto and toro sizes.

I too enjoy this cigar and virtually everything else in the line up.

With that said, inappropriate is encouraged around here, so don't hold back .
