    Diesel Delirium Review

    12/30/2014

    Cigar: Diesel Delirium
    Size: Gordo, 6.5”x56
    MSRP: $11.00
    Strength: Full
    Wrapper: Ecuador Habano
    Origin: Nicaragua

Prelight: I am quite impressed with the appearance of this cigar, from the embossed foot band, to the milk chocolate colored wrapper, to the pigtail cap. There are a few very minor veins and slight tooth on the wrapper, which has an extremely faint floral aroma to it. The dense and dark foot has a much woodier scent. Using a punch, I get a nice draw that has a little resistance but is not too tight. I get primarily a dusty wood taste during the cold draw.

1/3: The cigar starts off with a milk truck full of cream. There is a little wood in the background, as well as a little baking spice, but the cream is dominant. The entire profile seems a bit on the mellow side, but maybe I was expecting a powerhouse, which this cigar is not (yet) in the flavor department. The burn is a little wavy, but does not need a relight, and as the first third comes to an end, a hint of chocolate is added.

2/3: The ash falls at the transition to the second third, and the profile of the cigar is nearly the same – cream, wood, chocolate and a bit of spices – but a floral flavor emerges. At the halfway point I find myself remarking that this cigar is great! I’m loving the profile. The chocolate gains strength a little bit and the overall body is increasing as well.

3/3: The final third is pretty much the same profile, but with wood taking the forefront. It also gets a bit bitter, so it’s not a nubber. The burn has evened out and the ash is still dense and the burn is cool.

Overall: A really good cigar! The final third turned a bit bitter, but the hour or so it was in that sweet spot was worth it. Great appearance, good construction and excellent flavors makes this one a winner in my book.
To smoke is human; to smoke cigars, divine.

Great review of one of the most refined of the Diesel series. Its top notch tobacco not in great quantity so the production run is limited and rates the unusually high price tag for a Diesel. This is a cigar meant for smoking after a fine meal and with some VSOP grade Cognac or with my favorite caramel machiatto in my custom

Thanks for the review. I have had one of these tucked away forever. Surprised to hear that its on the mellow side. Hopefully all the rest on mine hasn't made it to mild

Mr. Simpson, don't you worry. I saw an episode of Matlock in a bar last night. The sound was down, but I think I got the gist of it.
