Pre Light Aroma - Smokey, leather, cedar, earthy,
Cold Draw - Cedar, oaky smokiness, dark fruit
Appearance - Dark chocolate, very oily, nearly seamless, good amount of noticeable veins, little to no tooth
Light - Blast of pepper, oak, salty, theres an interesting note on the back of the tongue thats really hard to explain. Its not a flavor but is quite noticeable and it lingers well beyond the finish.
1st Third - The weird twang slowly fades away. Oak, pepper, nutty, leather, coffee, raisin, salty, light bits of cocoa and cedar in the finish. Retrohale is earthy with an easy dose of pepper, very smooth. The profile is very complex with a long finish. Each puff seems to bring new nuances. Full body and strength with creamy smoke.
2nd Third - The profile starts to get creamier and picks up a sweet tobacco note. Sweet spices come and go. The profile mostly remains the same but is still very complex. Retrohale is mostly pepper. Full body and strength.
Final Third - Creamy cocoa and coffee start to takeover with an underlying earthy oak and cedar character. The pepper mellows out hanging on in the finish. Retrohale is pepper and mocha. Full body and strength.
Construction - Easy draw with nice resistance, great smoke production, sturdy ash and even burn. No touch ups or relights.
Overall - Possible cigar of the year. Not a lot of big flavor transitions but still amazingly complex and nuanced.
