Crowned Heads JD Howard Reserve HR50

    Manufacturer: Crowned Heads
    Brand: JD Howard Reserve HR50
    Size: 5.5x50
    Cost: $6.50
    Rest Time: 3-months
    Burn Time: 3:30

Prelight: The cigar has a milk chocolate wrapper with large seams and a paper bag like feel to it. The cigar has a firm, dense, feel and has some weight to it. Prelight aroma is a musty earth and spice. I use my small punch to pierce the cap and off we go. Prelight draw is a little snug with prune and earth and flavors.

    1st 3rd:

On first draw I get strong earth, a smoky wood and a dry, gritty finish. Once the stick settles down leather, buttered toast and a smoky wood on the finish. Sitting in the ashtray the JDH is putting out DE like foot smoke and the aroma is heavenly.

    2nd 3rd:

Entering the second third the ash on this dense stick is still holding on after 1.5 inches. The flavors remain consistent with some movement of the smoky wood on the finish moving to mid palate. A clean cocoa liquid flavor has come in on the finish more Yoo Hoo in consistency than chocolate milk.

    Final Third:

The final third sees the wood start to dominate with some white pepper mid-palate and flavors on the finish are a charred earth. The ash again hold on for quite a while, this is looking like a 3 ash cigar.

    Summary:

The JD Howard Reserve exhibited a prefect burn, with 3 long ashes from foot to cap, requiring no touch ups or relights. The body of the cigar was medium with no distinguishable strength. I really enjoyed the cigar, though, I found the flavors of the first two thirds more to my liking than the final one.

Is this a new review or a repost? Either way, I smoked a few of these in the smallest RG and I liked them but not enough to buy a box.
    Nice try MF'r!
