Cigar Review - Nub 460 Cameroon

    Nub – 460 Cameroon

    Vitola: 460
    Length: 4.0″
    Ring Gauge: 60
    Wrapper: Cameroon
    Binder: Nicaraguan
    Filler: Nicaraguan
Pairing: San Francisco Bay Foglifter coffee

After reading a recent review of a Nub, it reminded me how much I enjoy this cigar. After the disappointing experience with a La Gloria Cubana, I wanted a "sure thing" and this cigar did not disappoint!

Fit and Finish: Nice color, small seams and slight veining with an excellent cap, this is a nicely constructed cigar. Notes of tobacco and cocoa on the nose.

Draw: A v-cut gives a solid draw with cocoa and hints of pepper on the cold draw.

Toast/Light: Compared to the last large RG cigar, this Nub toasts easily and evenly with great resting smoke and one or two puffs without flame get it going nicely after toasting. Cocoa and cream with a mild spice on the first draw.

First third: Now this cigar is right in my wheelhouse! Cocoa, cream, nuts and mild pepper abound. It is smooth and delicious. copious amounts of smoke and a perfect pairing with my coffee...it is great!

Second Third: The creaminess continues to please me and pair with the coffee and the cocoa and nuts persist and are joined by cedar and a sweetness that I can't quite place. I'm now having to watch my pace to avoid overheating this cigar, not because it's poorly constructed, but because it's just so good I want more.

Final Third: The profile keeps the cocoa and nuts along with the cedar, but the pepper ramps up a bit and now I'm getting cinnamon as well. It's a great finish and leaves me wanting another one.

Final Thoughts: I'm generally becoming more of a fan of smaller RG with my cigars but this one is always a sure bet with me. I really enjoy Oliva cigars in general and the Nubs in particular. The Cameroon wrapper seems a little sweeter to me than the Maduro or Connecticut. Sitting right in the middle of the palate I enjoy I can't imagine not having at least a few resting for when I just want a no-brainer delicious cigar.

    Total smoking time: 90 minutes

Good review. This is the cigar that got me into Cameroon wrappers. I love the nuttiness and spices - sometimes I taste some cinnamon too which I can't get enough of in a cigar.

This cigar was my first box purchase for all the reasons you listed! Great little easy smoking cigar! Great review.

Nice review! I've got one resting in my humidor as well!

What are the common flavor profiles of a Cameroon wrapper? Like maduros tend to have chocolate/coffee, Connecticuts tend to have creamy, nut.

Wow 90 min smoke from a 4"er?! Do you smoke slow in general or do they just burn that slowly?

60 ring gauge, and jam packed with tobacco, so they tend to burn slowly.

If you nub it you could probably get close to 2 hours out of one.

Like Cameron says, that fat RG really slows the burn down. I can't imagine how guys smoke a 60 RG 7 inch cigar!

They must have lots of time! I have a Camacho Triple Maduro 6X60 waiting for me..think I'll save that one when I have a few hours to kill. Nice review, btw. I'll keep my eye out on any deals for some Nubs now.

Many discount these Nubs as a gimmick. I have never had one that disappoints. They do smoke long for their short nature. Nice review!
