Cigar review - Casa de Garcia Corona Maduro
Thanks to
@Hardheaded
for bombing me with this!
5.5" x 44
The wrapper is very toothy, and very rustic looking. One normally looks for a smooth, silky wrapper, but I actually like how this one looks. The wrapper has a sweet, chocolate scent to it.
I punch it, and find the pre-light draw to be pretty tough, with a sweet note. I decide to use my guillotine cutter on it to try and open up the draw a bit. I also roll the head gently between my thumb and forefinger to try and open up the airways some more. It doesn't improve much.
Lighting it up, I find the smoke production to be pretty low, most likely due to the tough draw. What I do get out of it though, are chocolate and coffee notes.
I end up clipping it again. I dare not clip it any further, for fear of the wrapper coming undone. I take a good look at the cut head, and here is what I see:
It's PACKED, and there looks to be a stem or two in there too. Oh well, I soldier on. The draw seems marginally improved.
I'm getting little to no spice on the retrohale, but how much of that is poor smoke production or just because the cigar isn't spicy, I don't know. It's rated as mild-medium cigar, so maybe it doesn't have much spice to begin with.
1" in, I'm getting vanilla notes in addition to the chocolate and coffee notes.
Tiring of the poor draw, I cut the cigar about 1/2" behind the burn line, but apparently the tobacco jam is near the head. Oh well. This is what I suspected, and when it goes out again I just call it.
Total burn time: 1 hour
I still enjoyed this for an hour, and honestly, I have to take it easy with breakfast cigars anyhow. A little research online yields a price per cigar of less than $1.25 per cigar, so even if I had purchased it myself I wouldn't complain too much about it.

It sucks when you get a plug. But it's the price we sometimes pay to enjoy fine handmade cigars. Thanks for the review!
To smoke is human; to smoke cigars, divine.

It was my first plugged cigar, and you're welcome!

Sorry about that. I've not had a plugged one yet from that bundle. I would be happy to bomb a few more your way for a proper smoke though.

No worries, not your fault! I still got an hour out of it, so no replacements are necessary
