Ave Maria Reconquista (Torpedo / Coffin)

    1/2:

    Powdered chocolate in the background.

    Pretty mellow.

    Very smooth.

    Kinda air-y and diluted.

Not really a whole lot going on.

Probably would have been a better morning stick, along with a coffee.

    Mild-plus.

OK draw, but it was on the looser side.

    2/2:

    Picks up a bit.

Becomes toasty, and kinda the chocolate turns creamy.

Spices are now noticeable - or at least more present.

    Probably notches up to medium.

    Trial By Smoke Judgement:

It was OK, and the 2/2 was a nice shift. It's probably a stick for a new smoker, or for a lighter occasion. Coffee probably would've paired better, only because it's mellow. I was drinking mezcal, and it paired fine. CI has it ridiculously priced at $21/coffin, but good ol' Cigarbid probably has em' much, much cheaper. CI also says it's full bodied - but I didn't get that. I've scored a couple Ave's for about a buck or two, and that seems about right to me for the Reconquista.

    Thanks for the stick, Tom!

This to me is a staple in my humidor (thanks to the devil). I love these and don't seem to smoke them as often as I should. They have a spicy/sweet combination that I just love.

What do you think of the review? Anywhere close to what you think?

I find the tobacco content to be a little stiffer than you noted. I do find the flavor to be more pronounced than you do - I rarely find these boring personally. As always, there can be a dud or two in any cigar batch. Part of my enjoyment of these is due to their long size I normally save them until I'm with friends - I rarely smoke them alone. Company factors so much into cigar enjoyment. Def. not a $21 cigar (but very few ever reach that category for me anyway) but under $7-8 and for sure under $5 I grab these babies.

Good to know. I will check this stick out again, but these bigger sticks take much more time commitment, so it probably won't be anytime soon.
