5 Vegas Gold No. 1
Here we have the biggest cigar in the 5 Vegas Gold line, the No. 1. It clocks in at a hefty 7" x 54 rg.
The Wrapper
It smells sweet and cedary. Well constructed, with only slightly visible seams and only a few prominent veins.
The Taste
Immediately you get the classic 5 Vegas Gold notes of creaminess, sweetness and nuttiness. For an everyday Connecticut-wrapped, mild-medium cigar, these can't be beat. On the retrohale I get some light tobacco and cream notes, with light spice levels.
The draw is good, as is the smoke production.
Here we're at the halfway point. It took me 90 minutes to get here, so this is easily a 2.5-3.0 hour smoke! You can see the cap got mangled a bit when I clipped the cap with my guillotine cutter to try to get more airflow. There wasn't anything wrong with the draw, but the cigar was going out too easily. I think the problem is that while my RH% of 75% is good, it's been hot here, so an RH% of 75% with temps in the high 70's means there is too much moisture in the air (air has a higher capacity for moisture at higher temps). I should've gone with 72% Boveda packs after all. Oh well, live and learn.
Notes
I think at this point I am pretty done with the 5 Vegas Gold flavor profile. There's nothing wrong with it, I'm just tiring of it. I may end up picking up the Nugget vitola at some point, since it's the smallest and shortest one in the line, and would be perfect to have on hand for any cigar-curious friends.

I'm a big fan of the 5 Vegas Gold (CT, not Maduro - I think the Maduro is wrapped in tarpaper) but I probably wouldn't get them that big. I can imagine the flavor would get kind of stale toward the end.
There is a 5 Vegas A (Maduro) that's 8.5" which I've had a few of in the humi from time to time. It's packed pretty loose though, so it really doesn't smoke any longer than a normal churchill.
You oughta know not to stand by the window, somebody see you up there.
