Royal Bum
2006 Cuesta Rey Stanford's Reserve Pyramid No.9
A 6.5x52 Pyramid, light tan, Colorado Maduro, fine, smooth texture body and cap with* a hard bunch.
Also want to note, I had intended to smoke this yesterday, but the wrapper peeled badly as soon as I cut it, and there was plenty of cap left, so had to repair it with a fair bit of glue and had to wait for it to dry.
Had an even burn, flat coal, white, typical ash, perfect draw, high smoke volume, very noticeable, fragrant aroma and no burn in the throat.
Of ample richness, perfect balance, medium strength and body,* and generous flavors of earthiness,* herbal, wood.
Light sweetness, no bitterness, burn on the tongue, sharpnessor saltiness.
Of elegant character and an overall great smoke.
Final score of 92 out of 100
Also, forgot to mention that this was another from the massive bomb by Bruce aka
@Ljutic

I can only think of two Colorado Maduros I've smoked: LFD and the EPC Short Run 2021. Didn't care too much for the LFD, but would like to return to one stored in my tuppie for a bit (the one I had was smoked at the B&M). Really enjoyed the EPC.
I want to say the LFD wrapper was more pronounced? Kind of an ashy texture to the taste, if I recall. I just remember being kinda unsure if I liked it.
With the EPC, it was there, but not as much, maybe better blended.
Can't really say for sure, just going off little memory, but this is a wrapper I'm interested in exploring more.
Might have to look for this one in the future, because I don't recall many current offerings having a Colorado Maduro wrapper.
Thanks for the review,

With my memory damage I can't name any for you, but i have had a decent number of Colorado Maduros, so they are definitely out there. This appears to still be in production, so worst case scenario, you can start this on in your foray into this wrapper.
I'll check my inventory app and see what I can find for you.
And my pleasure. I enjoy reviewing the well aged and/or uncommon cigar as I'm guessing they are more interesting to read.

I'll just have to search for them. This wrapper has been in the far back of cigar mind, and the review made it come forward, but nothing that's making me jump into going Lewis and Clark on this wrapper.
What's your take on the wrapper overall?

I like it.
Isn't particularly thin or fragile like some others.
Don't usually have any problems with cracking from handling or smoking

What exactly is a 'Colorado maduro'? Never heard of it before, but I'm sure I've probably smoked it.

From what I've read, it's a wrapper color.
I thought Colorado was the tobacco type, and Maduro being the color.

Yeah, I've looked it up before too, and saw the exact picture you posted, and it does seem like its just a lighter colored Maduro. As you can see in my OP picture, it was a darker tan color.
Not sure if it really has anything to do with the process used to make a Maduro wrapper or not. All the info i found, admittedly in just a quick glance around the web, wasn't really clear on if its just the name for the color, or if it has gone through at least some of the maduro making process or not.
I'm guessing one of our resident experts could answer if they happen to see this thread, which probably isnt likely, so I'll start a thread on it in the appropriate forum and see if we get a uniform answer.
