Royal Bum
2004 K. Hansotia Sherpa Founders 2002 Mystic Dos Capas
A medium, smooth textured, barber pole wrapper, smooth cap and a firm bunch.
A slightly uneven burn, light grey, typical ash with an easy draw and slightly conical coal.
High smoke volume and faint, brief, subtle aroma with no burn in the throat.
Ample richness, perfect balance of herbal, grassy and woody flavors and medium-full strength.
No sweetness, bitterness, sharpness, saltiness or burn on the tongue.
Elegant character and an overall great cigar, scoring 90 out of 100.

I'm glad to see you started on this one first. You are not alone in your findings that these cigars have done well with time. Not too bad for a sub $2 price point bundle stick, right? Purchased in quantity on a whim because I didn't have any barber pole cigars in the humi other than a couple Between the Lines Hemingway singles. Cigarbid still has auctions on these, but not this specific wrapper style right now.

I noticed that Gurkha isn't mentioned on the band or in the name. Are these pre-Gurkha days, or just happens to not be mentioned?

Was this aged since 04?
Wanted to give this one and the Prizefighter a shot, but haven't since they're only offered in bundles. Wish Cigarbid had every bundle stick offered in singles for a chance to try one or two before committing to 20.
Thanks for the review.

Yeah, it was only the lack of aroma and uneven burn that kept the score from being higher. Great tasting smoke

Yes, it was. I got it in a massive bomb from new member Bruce (Ljutic) who i knew from Cigar Family and joined here on my recommendation. Good guy. He will fit in well even though he hasn't smoked since 07 so has a walk in humidor full of nicely aged nc's to start smoking now that his kids are grown and out of the house

From memory Sean, I was aware of the connection between K. Hansotia, Gurkha, and Sherpa at the time I purchased these (2004). I can't remember ever purchasing/smoking a Gurkha cigar before that time, but I was curious about the cigars coming out of their factory. According to the internet, Gurka was under Hansotia's ownership as of 1988.
At the time of purchase, I remember thinking about Rocky Patel and the bundle blow outs on the original Indian Tabac Super Fuerte cigars. I was hoping the Sherpas might be similarly good and affordable cigars. Wrappers on these sealed the deal.
