2003 Punch Pita Double Maduro (Oscuro)

    Another from Bruce's ( @Ljutic ) enviable stash

A 6.13x50 toro with a dark brown oscuro, fine, toothy textured wrapper and smooth cap and a hard bunch.

Slightly uneven burn, long conical coal, pure white, typical ash.
Perfect draw, excellent smoke volume and faint, but fragrant aroma.

Of ample richness, medium-full strength, generous body and flavor with a perfect balance of earthy, herbal, grassy, woody tastes.

No sweetness, bitterness, burn on the tongue, sharpness or saltiness.

Overall character was outstanding and an excellent smoke scoring 92 out of 100.

    I friggin' LOVE cigars

Punch Rothschild, Elites, Pita, and London Club maduro/oscuro were all go to favorites at one time. Not really sure why, but I just seemed to lose interest in the brand. Maybe when they started expanding their lines with Gran Puro and Rare Corojo.

Glad to hear they aged well and you found it enjoyable.

They certainly were very enjoyable as you can see from them getting the highest score yet, so they definitely aged well.

I was actually asked to write up a short article on proper aging, as all the ones from the same age range from someone else really weren't nearly as good as all of yours have been, but since we already discussed it and you did nothing special, there's really nothing I can say and I'm perplexed by the big difference in the batches

I started and stopped a reply for the proper aging a few times over the weekend after seeing the post on CW. Unfortunately, I'm no expert so I'd chalk it up to luck, periodic monitoring, cleanliness, aging in the original box (most with shrink on), and more luck.

I have some After Dinners left, they didn't do it for me though. I'll have to check these out.
