That's pretty much my method - only difference is I use a piece of paper towel small enough not to reach the seal and I just stick it in place by saturating it with D/W. That way when I see it's fallen off I know it's given up all its moisture and needs to be checked / repeated if necessary.

I have a jar of mix your own from P&C that I need to do this with. Either that or take it on the next camping trip and use as tinder.

Trust me, I screw it well and am sure it's good and tight. The seal is good to go...
