What can I say, I'm turning into a briar snob.

Not really. I still love the cobs.

Update on the Rossi Prince. I've probably smoked 15 bowls out of it now and it is good at times and not so good others.

The only issue I'm having is that it smokes wetter than any other pipe I have. I'm not sure what is causing this. I'm not doing anything different as far as puffing frequency or cadence. I do notice that the drilling is narrow. Everything lines up centered but the hole is just small. Could this be the cause?

Usually I can smoke a bowl and only use one pipe cleaner during the smoke. I'm fine with that.
However with this one I use 2-3 pipe cleaners every time I smoke it because it will start gurgling several times.

What could be the cause? Like I said, I'm not changing anything when I smoke this one.

This is what came to mind and it may be totally off base but ...

It may have to do with the aging (or lack thereof) of the briar. Savinelli uses air curing. I would imagine that, with the Rossi pipes, they might use briar that is cured not as long as the Savs.

It stands to reason that a smaller draught hole would gurgle sooner than a larger one... prolly why a cob almost never gurgles: huge 3/16" draught hole. If it continues to be a problem, I know I wouldn't be above opening it up a shade. I'd bump it out to around 5/32". I'd guess the pipe doesn't have much cake yet either. It may start to smoke drier as cake builds up further and further down the bowl. That's going to be an uphill battle tho with it smoking wet like that. Maybe smoke very dry, loosely packed baccy ij it for a while to try and get some cake to form down around the heel...
