FYI, I intended this thread for everyone to show what the mailman brought them, not just a thread for me to act like I'm trying to show off. I'd very much fall short of many big timers orders, lol

Yup, most of every order is new blends to me, so I only buy 1oz.
If I like it, but it didn't blow me away, it's 2oz
If it blows my mind, 4oz.

And I thought WCC's Aromatic Sampler would be a great introduction to 6 different blends, on top of a small handful from the big smokingpipes order in the OP.

My ebay pipe order arrived today.
1 stem has some wear on the bit from teeth, one was in serious need of my new reamer, on one the stem end broke off in the shaft attempting to remove it for cleaning. Hoping to be able to carefully drill it out and get a new, cheap stem for it, and one was missing them stem, which was shown and mentioned in the add that I'll eventually get a cheap stem for. Only problem with the 2 needing stems is I have no clue on the make and model

All were clearly not regularly cleaned as the draw was super tight or nonexistent on all of them..
Ran some brushes soaked in 99% isopropyl alcohol through the 4 complete pipes, and filled the bowl half way with it, let it sit, then plugged the bit and let it sit full of alcohol.

All 4 are now fully functional. Even at that, i think i got a decent deal on 4 complete and functional pipes.

A couple could use a good wipe down with water to see if they clean up/rehydrate, if not, I can sand off the current stain (assuming there is any vs just being the natural color of the wood and it just needs some wood polish), and restain them to my liking.

The label on the bottom of the cob bowl is almost completely worn off, but the shank i.d. measures 6.5mm, so hopefully I'm able to find a stem based on the measurement.

May require some conversation with various companies selling stems to see if they can find a match based on the i.d. of the shank.

All are clearly old, drugstore pipes, but for the pice, I'm still happy, and that's what matters.

Yeah, that's the first place I checked, and even the bits that take a 6mm filter, just like my Country Gentleman, are too big to fit, as the hole in the "regular" cob is only 6.5mm I.D. and the material around the 6mm filter ones are more than 0.5mm, so they are too big.

I tested my MM cob bit, and it's too big. I'm betting they are 9mm O.D., as anywhere I found bits that list an O.D. are either 3mm or 9mm.

I'm guessing that these pipes are all pre-1980's or are 1970's era, and being cheap, drugstore pipes, didn't follow any kind of standard, or the standard sizes have changed over the years.

The label on the bottom of the bowl is too worn to read maker or model.

I'm thinking my only option is to take a 6mm filter (9mm O.D.) bit and sand it down to 6.5mm O.D. to fit, and with only 0.5mm of "wall" remaining, would be pretty fragile (but for $3 I'd be willing to try). Other option is to get one of the unfinished bits and do the same, hopefully leaving a thicker wall, while still fitting. Dunno the scoop on the unfinished ones.

I did email MM about it, and they basically said it's near impossible to find a bit for one brand that will fit another, and good luck in my search.

I also noticed yesterday while rehydration the 4 good new ones, then lightly waxing to lock in the moisture plus restore the little bit of shine, that the cob bowl had several sizeable cracks, although they don't appear to go all the way through as it held alcohol fine, and blocking the stem with my finger, and blowing hard with lips around the bowl, I felt no air leaks, so they seem to be on the outer part of the cob only, but that may change from expansion and contraction from use, would likely make the crack even deeper.

I'm told these were bought at an estate sale, so who knows how long they sat around unused and uncredited for, and the cob especially, drying out.

Yeah, that's where I bought my MM Night Rider Country Gentleman cob pipe, my first ever pipe, and my daily use one. They definitely have great prices.

Only reason I was looking for a stem to fit the old one I have is I intended to clean it up nice and send it with an eventual bomb, as I'm not a fan of the yellow, very corn cob looking pipes. Just not my style, but plenty of people like them.

It's apparently either an odd shaft hole inside diameter, or the standard sizes have changed over time. It's 6.5mm I.D., and the new standard based on looking at many places, is 3mm or 9mm. Occasionally I see 10mm too.

Did find a place with a 7mm, straight and bent, that I figure I can sand down 0.5mm without effecting the integrity of the end of the stem since it's such a small amount. Planning to give it a try.
