Will work for tobacco.
I smoke about one cigar a week in good weather, so my cigar stash will last me 15 to 20 years.
I'm not sure how much pipe tobacco I have, maybe 30ish pounds, but I do KNOW I need many, many more pounds of Homborger Veermaster.

I'm new to pipes and am so far smoking about 2-3 bowls + 1 cigar per week. I have 7 tins and 10 or 12 half-pint jars - a good deal of it due to the generosity of brothers here (and going from being the guy who never wins nuthin' to suddenly winning contests right and left!).
I'm determined not to get carried away like I did with cigars, wanting to try everything, and buying/trading accordingly. I have probably 300-400 cigars, and since I only smoke about one per week I really don't need to be buying any more. At least a third are singles I've never tried.

Stop that crazy talk RIGHT NOW, young man!
(You should have your mouth washed out with Lakeland for talking like that)
You can NEVER have enough pipe tobacco; it goes like this; buy, jar, squirrel away, forget, repeat
Or, for you accounting types...
1) Buy lots of tobacco and pack in mason jars
2) hide mason jars in dark corner in the basement
3) ???
4) PROFIT!

Okay, I'm convinced. But I do find that while I like all kinds of cigars depending on mood (Dominican, Nicaraguan, Cuban) I seem not to like certain pipe tobaccos at all (burley) - at least so far. So at least I'll go slower and not amass too much stuff I might not like in the end. Nothing to stop me from stockpiling my favorites in advance, though, huh?.....
Are Lakelands as soapy as Mixture No. 79?

Lakeland is the original soapy tasting tobacco topping. Try the horror known as 'Ennerdale' if you want to experience a LD50 dose.
From what every old timer says, you can't go wrong with Virginias. Seems every 'vintage' pipesmoker ends up with a healthy appetite for Virginia tobacco. I'm not there yet; the biggest thing I enjoy about pipe tobacco is the almost limitless variety. Burleys? Yeah, IMO burleys kinda suck but there are times when a burley sure sounds good. In those moments - which are somewhat rare - I'll usually reach for Prince Albert or PS 41 Cube Cut.

About 150 cigars, very few of which I paid more than $3 for. Probably a couple pounds of rolling components.
About 5# of pipe tobacco & blending components.
You oughta know not to stand by the window, somebody see you up there.

Basket of Deplorables
I keep an inventory on a spreadsheet.
Currently about 100 kilos.
I lost track of my cigar inventory years ago.
(and I ain't gonna count em.)

I've got 110 pounds, there I said it. Hi, my name is Tab and I have tobacco acquisition disorder (TAD). Seriously, I look at it as a hedge against future tobacco legislation and taxes. Also, looking to get a benefit from aging the tobaccos.
