A little while back I decided I would make a pipe rack for briar, and another for cobs. I gave away all the old racks, and sold the pipes that didn't fit in the new ones. Whenever I get new pipes I trade/sell the same number to keep consistent. I always leave one empty spot in case I'm gifted something, or I stumble upon an irresistible buy.

    You're not delusional.
My guess is you just haven't decided what that "certain point" is yet, eh?

    Hi Tobias,

I decided to give up smoking so to celebrate I bought a lovely old Barling and a few pounds of tobacco from Pipes & Cigars....Just in case.

The above line is mostly true, except I didn't end up quitting and I didn't get the Barling, though I tried, because someone else pressed Enter on BUY IT NOW a hairsbreadth before me. It was bang bang and I lost so I'm going to order more tobacco tonight and buy a pipe tomorrow and then quit smoking again so that I can buy some more pipes and tobaccos.

You're a smoker, not a collector so you'll gradually keep pipes by their smoking ability and then you'll lose count. Add a few more, Smokers always want to see how well the next pipe smokes so we do tend to keep acquiring even when need is long since satisfied. I admire your plan and fortitude, same as I had when I was about your age but that was long ago before I realized that quitting smoking was so much fun.

    Pete

I'm slowly running out (actually quite fast) of pipes to sell off that will allow me to get more pipes. What is a piper supposed to do?!?!

I still remember telling my wife 3 yrs ago that I was only going to buy a few cobs. Told her they are cheap dont worry I am not going to start collecting pipes. She just rolled her eyes and said "yeh right". Well she was right. I do not know how many pipes I have but its probably close to 100. And once my next trade comes in over 10 lbs of tobacco. I did trade off a lot of cigars so I did get rid of something. Poor wifey, she stopped counting the pipes a while back.
