McClelland (Blakeney's Best) tawny flake is sweet.
SG Best Brown Flake and Scottish Autumn Flake are excellent straight VAs.
Lots of good suggestions already,so naturally I will add mine.
SG Medium VA Flake is lighter bodied than FVF, but still lovely stuff.
Dan Tobacco Hamborger Veermaster hits the sweeter spots for me.
Capstan Blue has a bit more body than HV, and the same sweetness if paced properly.
They have it at Iwan Ries.
I've seen many comments on the sweetness of Virginias. I smoke Virginias almost exclusively, but I've never experienced sweetness with any of them. I do taste "savory" (and that's what I crave).
Maybe that's related to the fact that I don't have a sweet tooth for food. I'll take cashews or Fritos in preference to any cake or candy.
Nice suggestions guys. I've got a few more to add to my list as well.
BTW, I was at my local B&M today and picked up a couple ounces of the MacBaren VA No. 1 and am enjoying a bowl right now. Good stuff and as for the aromatic part, I sure don't taste any topping. Just pure Virginia goodness. @Haebar , it's not quite as good as that sample I got from you, but still good stuff. :pipe:
And @BryGuySC , I just ordered a few ounces of SG Navy Flake thanks to you getting me hooked on that.
You guys are expensive friends to have I tell ya.
Big VA fan here!
In addition to those already mentioned,
Sutliff Sweet VA
Pretty much all of the Peter Stokkybe VA-based flakes
Rattray's VA and Marlin flakes (don't know if I'm straying too far off topic here :))
