Continuing my VA flake journey, I'm smoking a bowl of FVF right now. Wow! This is wonderful stuff! Possibly my favorite so far in this genre.

Just finished smoking Red Virginia Flake in a 2002 medium bend smooth straight grain Karl Erik freehand with a pointy bottom.

Is that the Wessex you are smoking?

Just finished a mix of silver river, latakia, and perique in a clay.

Smoking some Rattray's Red Rapparee in a 602 Venere. I'm on a Red bender these days.

Standard Tobacco Company of Pennsylvania War Horse in a 2015 smooth unfinished Savinelli 320KS author. Great tobacco!

Just fired up a bowl of PS Lux Bulls Eye Flake in a 3/4 bent meerschaum.

Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem.

No. It's an experimental blend that a friend made and gave me a sample of.

About halfway through a bowl of SG St. James Flake in my Savinelli billiard.

I had ran out of SJF and haven't had any for a couple of weeks. Man I missed it. I finally got around to ordering some and I was like a crackhead opening the box. Man, I love this stuff.

I'm fairly new to pipes (about a year experience) and FVF is my favorite Virginia blend by far. I just got a shipment in though and I got a tin of Dunhill Flake. I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares.

You're a few months more experienced than me, at least! I know SJF has Perique, but how does it compare to the FVF?

I'm convinced it is the same tobacco, just that SJF has the Perique added.
It gives it a bit of spice here and there. I think it is a bit sweeter than FVF.

They are definitely 2 of my favorite tobaccos.

You should try SG Navy Flake as well. It is basically FVF with Latakia and a light rum topping. Great stuff.

I'm a Gawith whore if you haven't figured that out already.


Check out this video. I love this guy's pipe tobacco reviews. He's pretty cool and has similar tastes as me (except I tend to lean towards sweeter tobaccos) so I watch a lot of his stuff.
