I had some McClelland P.M. Pipe in a Savinelli 320 this afternoon. Beautiful day for a pipe in the hammock here.

Jim,
If the pipe's stamped Upshall (and has the JU on the stem) then then that's what it is. The walnut finish was usually a "P" grade and you may find the grade (letter) on the side of the shank (near the bowl). Tilshead is the little town where the workshop is located. Your pipe is a James Upshall (first) but if the pipe only had the Tilshead stamp then it's one of their seconds that are called "Tilsheads".
The Tilshead are true seconds, made from the same briar, by the same craftsmen and only surface flaws prevented them from being Upshalls. In 1982-1984 they sold for $29.95 (red) and $39.95 (natural).
Just finished...

Jim, can you see a letter on the stem (near the bowl)?
2015 McClelland #2010 in a 1985 Ser Jacopo (Rowlette) saddle panel with sterling band.
This is the first Rowlette that Jacopo made (it's unmarked). I named the line for my friend who lives in Rowlette. It's a candle wax (dripping) finish. I sold this pipe 30 years ago and then bought it a few months ago on eBay. First few smokes weren't encouraging but the last three have are approaching elite.
