SG Navy flake in the new Peterson. Mmmmmmm... I'm getting sweet, tangy virginia and smoky bbq with notes of melting polyethylene. I will say this for Peterson so far: the melting plastic taste is far less than other pipes I've broken in. Others have been like burning polystyrene with occasional notes of tobacco.

Peter Stokkebye, Aromatic Dutch Sliced in the new Peterson: a burly blend I don't usually like. I don't like it now but I'm trying to build some cake in the heel of this thing. Burned to ash tho with no moisture in the bowl. Burleys are good for that. Drinking iced coffee. I should go load another bowl.

Recently opened a bag of Esoterica Brighton; my first time trying it.
It is a nice mild Virginia, with hints of anise and flowers.
I don't think it fits in the aromatic category, but it certainly isn't straight Virginia.
I like it. It is interesting!

I opened a 3 yo tin of Escudo yesterday — puffing that now in my Mark Tinsky brandy:

Mark Tinsky Sandblasted Brandy (4) | Buy Mark Tinsky Tobacco Pipes at Smokingpipes

This stout little pipe doesn’t have the grace of my Tinsky billiard, but it smokes good and feels good in hand.

Emperor Zurg: “I have a bit of Solani 660 airing out to try in it.”

You must like your tobacco really dry. I smoke 660 straight out of a new tin with no problems. I REALLY like the 660. I now have 18 unopened 100g tins in stock, plus some in a Weck jar. Curious to know how well you like it.

How do you store unopened, 100g Solani tins? They're not sealed in the least.

I haven't given the 660 an honest try yet. Haven't had any pipe moments lately. Maybe tonight.

The tins aren’t sealed, but I’m hoping that the mylar bag will keep the tobacco fresh. You’d probably prefer to see it go as dry as a bone.

Edit: I really like your new spigot mount pipe. I’m generally not a Peterson fan, but yours is a keeper.

Thanks. As I said before, I'm not a big Pete fan either, but I like this pipe.

Smoking a fill of Solani 660 in a Barling Canadian. So far it's only okay but no matter, I seldom like a new blend right away. Right now, the DFK seems to mute the Va too much and I find myself looking for the perique which of course, isn't there. I do like my tobacco pretty dry but not 'dry as a bone'. Especially not stored dry as a bone, that seems to deplete the flavor. I think this 660 will grow on me. I need to smoke a few more bowls.
