    First fill of the day — Patriot Flake (Dan Tobacco) in my Tinsky straight brandy. I’ve heard that many pipe smokers like to start the day with a milder tobacco and work up. I’m the opposite; I like a hearty tobacco to start with, and Patriot Flake fills that bill.

    It turned out pretty good - sweet and mellow. It will be good for blending but don't think I'll smoke it straight.

    Probably could use a pinch of latakia or perique to give it a little complexity.
    First I'd try adding some red va though... just because I usually like red va in things

    Speaking of Virginias, I had a bowl of Sam Gawith, Navy Flake last night in a Canadian
