Last night was the Knoxville Pipe Club meeting and I smoked:
D&R Rimboche SJ in a Sunrise billiard - this was pretty good; smoked dry and was tasty.
McClelland 40th anniversary in a Dunhill Shell billiard - Very good smoke. I highly recommend this one!
GLP Gaslight in a Dunhill Root billiard - this was outstanding! Creamy, rich and lots of smoke volume.
Only 4 people showed up last night - we are losing members faster than we can recruit new ones. If you live near Knoxville, TN, you are welcome to come.

That kinda sucks Tab.
McClelland #2010 (just received today) in a 1940s Barling Ye Olde Wood #251. 'The Machine', smooth taper billiard with Dr. Brown's Diet Black Cherry.
I gave the Barling #251s the sobriquet (The Machine) and I put them on a pedestal because they represent to me the epitome of the hand-made pipe makers art. I rarely smoke them now but I noticed that this one developed a hairline crack across the rim that doesn't affect the smoke but it reduces its value. Excellent smoke that rounded the fresh McClelland nicely.

Good night of smoking. First, a bowl of OGS in my Wiebe custom and then some 2010 FVF in a baraccini poker.
RIP Don DeBusk, I miss you more than you’ll ever know my good friend.

In Scott's vein, had a bowl of 1980s vintage Edgeworth in my Tsuge pot this morning.

I'll listen from now on. Do you know of any other blends that are under-appreciated?

Back in the 90's the club met downtown and always had 20-30 members. Not sure why this decline in membership is happening; perhaps it is the internet, forums, etc. On a typical night we have 7-10 people.
About to light up a bowl of Sutliff Sweet Virginia in a Sunrise billiard.

oh there are lots imo... Just a few that come to mind: HH Old Dark Fired, Sam Gawith Chocolate Flake (much better than BCF I think), Rattray's Red Rapparee, Hearth & Home Larry's blend, Hearth & Home AJ's VaPer... all very nice blends that you don't hear about much anymore. If you like Va flakes, there's Newminster 400 and Peter Stokkebye Navy flake - those are both pretty cheap and with a couple years on them, very fine smokes. Both can be a little bitey for me fresh but I'm sensitive to tongue bite.
Oh, another one is G&H Black Cherry twist. Not your typical cherry aromatic (because we all know those are evil) This is like Happy Bogie with a hint of cherry in the background. Makes a great chew too. Imo it's second in line behind SRT

Untrue. This is lovely. I really like the GLP Old London blends in particular. Every one of them has its own character.
